Review: Blood Orange Cleansing Balm

I had been looking at, and researching, cleansing balms for a few weeks when this cleansing balm was released. I was intrigued by cleansing balms because the cleanser I was using, while I absolutely love it, just wasn’t cutting it when it came to taking my makeup off. I also didn’t want to use makeup removing wipes on a daily basis because they tend to dry out my skin. I had previously been using a liquid makeup remover that I liked a lot, but when I ran out, I knew I wanted to try something different. However, most of the cleansing balms that I had look at were a little more on the expensive side, ranging mostly around $90 (I know there are probably less expensive versions, but those were just the ones that I had looked at), so when I got the email saying the a new cleansing balm was launching at 100 Percent Pure for $38 I jumped at the chance and ordered immediately. I didn’t regret it for one second. For one, the ingredients make me ridiculously happy, and secondly, this stuff works far better than I could have ever imagined.

Most of the cleansing balms I had read about had to be warmed up between the fingers before applying it on your face and massaging it into the skin before wiping it off with a cloth. That’s exactly how this cleansing balm works, and when removed, my skin feels luxuriously soft because of the multiple oils that the balm is made with. The balm also literally just melts my makeup off. Even my eyeliner, which doesn’t come off for anything. One super amazing perk of this cleansing balm is that it doesn’t clog pores (at least for me it doesn’t, but everyone is different)!! I was convinced that it would since it is so oil heavy that it would, but to my surprise and delight, it doesn’t. That’s a win in my book!

Did I mention that it smells like orange juice? Like it smells just like a freshly squeezed glass of orange juice. Honestly, sometimes I just stand there and smell it before taking my makeup off because it’s that good. And then I get hungry. It also, as I mentioned before, makes your skin feel heavenly. I do still wash my face with my regular cleanser after using the cleansing balm, as to remove any dirt still lingering on my face.

Overall, I’m super happy with this purchase and I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a new makeup remover (I have heard of people using cleansing balms even when they don’t have makeup on, but I personally just use it as a makeup remover). Leave me a note below if you try it, and let me know what you think!
